A Workshop Built Around Careful, Unhurried Work

Tawan Wela is a watch repair workshop on the beachfront road in Patong, Phuket. We focus on clarity, honesty, and doing what's actually needed — nothing more.

Our Story

How Tawan Wela Came to Be

The name Tawan Wela comes from two Thai words: tawan, meaning sun, and wela, meaning time. We chose it because both things matter here — the Phuket sun shapes how watches age on the island, and time is exactly what our clients trust us with.

The workshop started as a small repair bench on Thawewong Road, serving local residents and visitors who needed work done on diving and sports watches worn through Phuket's coastal conditions. Salt air, humidity, and repeated water exposure ask more of a watch than everyday wear does, and we built our approach around those specific demands.

Over time, the scope of services expanded to cover bezel and crystal care alongside full service packages, but the pace and manner of the work has stayed the same: we look carefully, we explain clearly, and we begin only when you're satisfied with what we've described.

Our Mission

What We're Here to Do

Our mission is straightforward: keep watches working well in a coastal environment, and make sure the people who bring them to us understand what's happening at each step. We don't add work that isn't needed, and we don't begin work that hasn't been agreed.

We believe watch servicing is most useful when it's transparent. A client who understands the condition of their timepiece and the options available to them is in a much better position than one who simply hands it over and hopes for the best.

That principle shapes everything we do, from the first conversation to the moment the watch is returned.

How We Work

Standards We Follow

No Work Without Agreement

We describe what we've found and what we propose before doing anything. Work begins only once you've confirmed you're comfortable with the plan.

Pressure Testing Procedure

Water-resistance checks follow the rated specification of the watch — we don't test to a lower standard just to clear the job faster.

Initial Assessment First

Every watch receives a thorough look before any service is quoted. We don't commit to a price until we've seen the actual condition.

Secure Handling

Watches in our care are kept secure at all times. We maintain a clear record of each piece from intake to collection.

Original Parts Where Possible

We source appropriate components for the make and model and present options to you when alternatives exist, along with the reasoning.

Honest Advice

If the repair cost exceeds the watch's current value, or if we're not the right workshop for a particular job, we say so plainly.

Watch Repair in Patong — a Practical Setting for a Precise Craft

Phuket's Patong district sits on a bay exposed to the Andaman Sea. The salt content in the air, the daily humidity swings, and the sheer amount of water exposure mean that watches worn here — especially diving and sports models — need attention from someone who understands the local conditions. General servicing advice written for a temperate climate doesn't always translate.

At Tawan Wela, the services we offer are shaped by what we see regularly: seals that have softened in the heat, crowns corroded by saltwater, bezels that have stiffened from sand and grit, and crystals marked by the kind of contact that comes with active outdoor use. Our work is measured and considered rather than fast, and clients can expect to be kept informed rather than left waiting without news.

Whether you've noticed something specific — a crown that feels different, a bezel that won't move freely, a watch that fogged up after a swim — or you'd simply like a general assessment after a period of heavy use, we're available to take a look and give you a plain account of what we find.
